日差しが眩しい！ 天気はとても、とても良い。 私は渋谷で若い女を乗せた。彼女はミニスカートに黄色のシャツ、そしてつばの広い帽子を被っていた。帽子は彼女によく似合っている。彼女もまたかわいい。 彼女は言う。「タバコ吸っていいですか？」。私、「どうぞ」。私はミラーで彼女の顔を見る。しかし帽子に隠れて目元が見えない。 私には彼女の鼻と口、頬しか見えない。そのときタバコの煙が彼女の鼻穴から吹き出た。 おっ、面白い！ 私は運転しながら彼女の鼻を見る。 かわいい鼻からタバコの煙は吐き出される・・私に見られていることを彼女は知らない・・あまりカッコ良くない。 夕方、原宿で若い女二人が私を止めた。彼女らは「コットン通りまで行ってください」 ん？ 私はその道は知らない。考える・・・“恐らく骨董通りのことだ。” 私は繰り返す 。「骨董通りですね」。彼女らは「そうそうコットン」。「コットン通りです」。私は思う。“コットンでな〜〜い！” 彼女達はおのぼりさんである。 私は思い出した。約２０年前、私は言い間違えたことを。“言問”をゲンモン、“等々力”をドウトウリキ、・・たくさんある。 私もまた、おのぼりさんである。 売り上げ４１，０００円。

Today was a sunny day! The weather was very, very fine. I picked up a young woman in Shibuya. She was wearing a mini skirt, a yellow shirt and a broad-brimmed hat. That hat looked good on her and she was cute. She said, “May I smoke?” I said, “Go ahead.” I saw her face in the mirror but I didn’t see her eyes because there were hidden by the hat. I saw only her nose, mouth and cheeks, just as she blew cigarette smoke from her nose. Oh! It was very interesting. I was looking at her nose while driving. The pretty nose was blowing out smoke. She didn’t know that I was looking at her nose. Watching is not cool. In the evening, two women hailed my cab in Harajuku. They asked, “Please go to Kotton Street.” I didn’t know that street. Then I thought that maybe they meant Kotto Street. I repeated, “Kotto Street right?” they said, “Yes! Kotton.” “Kotton Street.” I thought its not Kotton. Perhaps they were visiting from the country side. I remembered when about 20 years ago, I had mistakenly said, “Kototoi for Genmon, Todoroki for Doutouriki. … many wards. I am also from the country side. I made 41,000 yen.
